Onyee is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Art Therapist who practices using an organic, strengths-based, person-centered approach that invites clients to guide the direction and pace of sessions to achieve their long-term goals. Her therapy implements mindfulness, psychoeducation, meditation, and narrative therapy in sessions to help clients discover new ways of coping and encourage better self-understanding. She endeavors and values providing a space for her patients to be seen, heard, and understood.
Onyee’s primary clinical interest is offering art therapy to adolescent and adult populations who experience anxiety and depression, anger management issues, or other emotional and behavioral challenges. She is also experienced in working with individuals to address relationship concerns, as well as assisting in setting healthy boundaries.
Onyee was born and raised in Markham and has always had a passion for creative arts. She spent her younger years creating paintings alongside her father and always found a fascination in truly understanding an artist’s work of art and the stories that lie within. Her art has provided her with a space for deeper exploration of her inner world in situations where she found it difficult to express thoughts and emotions through words.
Onyee has completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Art History, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, both from McMaster University. She is currently a candidate for a Masters-level Graduate Diploma in Art Therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. She is a member in good standing of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
