Rui is a Registered Psychotherapist, having practiced psychotherapy since 2005. His practices include psychotherapy, life coaching, consultation, training, with counseling to individuals, couples, families, groups, and organizations. Rui has developed his expertise in issues related to mental health, addictions, developmental disabilities, and dual diagnosis. He counsels in rehabilitation, traumatic injuries, chronic illness, parenting (child and youth), couple and marital relationships, and as well as personal wellbeing and development. He works with clients from all walks of life, different age groups, various sexual orientations, and diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
His main approaches include Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interview (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Clinical Hypnosis, Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Family Systems Therapy. He practices Harm Reduction and Relapse Prevention, person-centered approaches, resiliency building, and leadership creativity coaching.
Rui is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Clinical Member of Ontario Society of Psychotherapists. He is also a former Executive Board Member of the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists.
