Yan Sin Wong is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with rich experience in Expressive Arts Therapy, a psychotherapy modal which utilizes multiple forms of creative expression including music, dance, drama, writing and visual arts to help individuals to express and explore their feelings, emotions, and thoughts. She fosters a non-judgmental and embracing environment, employing active listening and attention to both verbal and nonverbal communication, resulting in strong therapeutic relationships with her patients.
Yan Sin specializes in gerontology with over 5 years’ experience as an expressive arts therapist working in assisted living homes working primarily with individuals with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. She also employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) in her private practice, serving a diverse clientele, including MVA and long-term illness patients, with PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and sleep disorders. Additionally, children with special needs and physical or intellectual disabilities are a special clinical interest of hers.
Yan Sin has completed her Master Expressive Arts Therapy from the University of Hong Kong, in addition to a Master of Arts in Music Education, from the Education University of Hong Kong. She also possesses a postgraduate diploma in Music Therapy from HKU and a graduate certificate in gerontology from Fanshawe College, as well as additional training in Philosophical Counselling. She is a member in good standing of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and Ontario Expressive Arts Therapy Association (OEATA).
